EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT: Australasian Security and Intelligence Associations' Combined Seminar

The Australasian Security and Intelligence Associations’ Combined annual Seminar and Reception will be held in Canberra on Tuesday 7 December 2010.

A general invitation is extended to members of the security profession.

The Seminar will be from 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm and the Reception will be held from 5.30 pm to 8.30pm at the Great Hall, University House, Australian National University on Tuesday 7 December 2010.

The Seminar, which will review the year past and consider the security challenges ahead, will include speakers from Academia, Industry and Government. Association members will receive professional certification points for attendance. The Seminar program will be posted on Association websites.

Confirmed speakers include

  • Michael L’Estrange – Director National Security College; The year in review and the year ahead.
  • Valerie Schaeublin - Overseas Security Advisory Council, US State Department: International security issues for business and government
  • Mark Holmes, Executive Director, Institute of Public Administration Australia (ACT Division): Policy Challenges - impact of security on broader public policy
  • Standards Australia – Societal Security International Standards
  • Jason Brown and Council members – Review of Professional Security Registration Criteria
  • Other speakers TBA,
  • Association leaders will provide short briefs on society activities, including an update on the Australasian Council of Security Professionals.

It is hoped that Anthony Albanese, Minister for Infrastructure and Industry, will be opening the reception and launching AvSec DVD, the Security Professionals Registry - Australasia and providing an insight into the latest government transport security initiatives.
