Chris Flaherty becomes Fellow of Security Institute
Dr Chris Flaherty has become a Fellow of the Security Institute of the United Kingdom.
In order to be granted membership, applicants have to either undergo a rigorous validation process which reviews relevant work experience, training and qualifications or complete a period of study and academic qualification in a security-related subject.
The Security Institute has approximately 1000 members, and is the largest association for security professionals in the UK.
The Security Institute promotes the highest-possible standards of probity and professional competence in the business of security, by working with the public and private sectors, and with other security-related associations, by agreeing core standards, by networking and by encouraging excellence in training.
Dr Flaherty has been working in the areas of security, defence and counter terrorism research, its application, and project management for some time. He is currently a Senior Risk Consultant at Greymans Limited, where he advises on mass gatherings and crowded places’ risk, vulnerability and security analysis.
Membership of the Security Institute is an important adjunct to his ongoing role in security professional development, particularly with regards to his recent appointment as a research team member with London Metropolitan Business School: Centre for International Business and Sustainability (CIBS).
