Chemicals: New code of practice to reduce security risk

1 December 2010: Attorney-General Robert McClelland and the Plastics and Chemicals Industry Association (PACIA) launched a new industry code of practice to reduce the security risk posed by certain chemicals.

The launch at the Orica ChlorAlkali plant in Laverton North, Victoria followed work by Government and industry to revise the PACIA website and Supply Chain Security Guidance framework.

This follows the launch in 2009 of the Chemicals of Security Concern Campaign - part of the COAG Chemical Security Management Framework - which aimed to reduce the risk of terrorists acquiring chemicals.
