ADT achieves SCEC Type 1 certification
ADT Security has recently achieved national SCEC Type 1 certification for alarm installation and off-site monitoring, providing more choice for government agencies and security advisers to the high security sector.
There are four levels of security monitoring offered in the Australian market, Type 1 representing the highest level demanded by Australian government agencies identified to have critical security risks. Few companies achieve Type 1 certification.
The authority that determines whether an Australian Government department or agency requires security to the Type 1 standard is ASIO T4 – a branch of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), Australia’s national security service.
The authority which is responsible for the evaluation of security equipment for use by Government agencies deemed to require Type 1 standard security is the Security Construction and Equipment Committee (SCEC). SCEC is an interdepartmental committee which reports to the Attorney General.
Once a vendor has a product or service pass the rigorous evaluation, it then becomes certified and is added to the SCEC catalogue. For more information about the SCEC procedure, go to http://scec.gov.au/news/equipment_evaluation
Government departments/agencies deemed to have Type 1 security requirements can only use security products/services which have been certified Type 1.
